9 days including arrival and departure, higher summit success focus
Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, hotel check-in and a full mountain briefing and equipment check with your guide.
The climb begins at Machame Gate, through montane rainforest to Machame Camp, setting the steady pace the crew will hold for the rest of the climb.
The trail rises out of the forest onto the Shira Plateau's open moorland, with the first clear views of Kibo's summit cone. Camp is set on the plateau.
A 'climb high, sleep low' day via the Lava Tower at roughly 4,600 metres, descending into the Barranco Valley among giant senecios for the night.
This route's extra acclimatization leg: a shorter day crossing to Karanga Camp, giving the body more time to adjust before the final push and measurably improving summit success rates.
From Karanga the trail continues to Barafu Camp, the exposed rocky staging point for the summit attempt, with an early dinner and a few hours' rest before the midnight start.
A midnight departure up the switchbacks to Stella Point and along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, typically reached around sunrise. The long descent continues down to Millennium Camp.
The final descent through forest to Mweka Gate, certificates, and a transfer to your hotel for a proper rest.
