Day 1 of 5
Arrival & Stone Town
Arrival in Zanzibar and a guided walk through Stone Town. Zanzibar's Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a maze of narrow coral-stone lanes, carved wooden doors and balconies that reflect centuries of Swahili, Arab, Persian, Indian and European trade. A guided walk takes in the old fort, the waterfront and the market, with time to explore the alleys and absorb a very different atmosphere from the safari parks.
Spice Farm - Beach Resort
A visit to a working spice farm outside Stone Town walks you through the cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and cardamom that once made Zanzibar one of the world's most valuable trading posts, with the chance to smell, touch and taste produce straight from the plant. Afterward, transfer to your beach resort for the rest of the stay.
Beach Leisure Day
The day is left free to enjoy Zanzibar's beaches, powder-white sand against warm, clear turquoise water. The reef just offshore is good for snorkeling, and boat trips out to sandbanks or nearby islands can be arranged locally if you would like to add one.
Beach Leisure or Cultural Excursion
A further free day at the beach, or an optional cultural excursion such as a village visit or a trip to Jozani Forest, home to the endemic red colobus monkey, can be arranged locally.
