This is the classic Moshi day trip, and a good way to fill a spare day before or after a climb. The morning is a walk through Chagga coffee smallholdings to the base of the Materuni Waterfall, with a hands on lesson in picking, roasting and brewing along the way.
The afternoon is a drive down to Chemka, also called Kikuletwa, where a spring fed pool of astonishingly clear turquoise water sits under fig trees, perfect for a long swim.
